Well, I've made it thru my first week of college! What a difference!!!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow I will have been here for 3 weeks I think and so much has happened already!
I had forgotten what it's like to be a freshmen and starting all over with everything. I don't have many friends out here. Kelly C., Byron, and a couple others are about the only people that I knew before coming. Since classes have started I have seen Kelly... umm maybe once. And I've seen Byron like 3 times in passing or in class (Wind Symphony).
I'm taking 15 credits I think. I'm taking Intro to Photography, Music Theory 1, Ear Training, Philosophy of Service, Career and Life Planning, Math for stupid people, and Wind Symphony. So far they are all quite easy with not much, if any, homework.
The first full weekend I was here I went to church and then a few of us went to World Pulse Festival in South Bend, Indiana (about a half hour). It was an all day thing but we got there in time for the last two artists. It's a HUGE Christian concert with about 6 different artists. I heard Toby Mac and the NewsBoys. It was SO cool! We were close enough to see the stage. It was a lot of fun!
The next week the rest of the freshmen and some transfer students came. They had seminars and All Fired Up (AFU) that week. AFU started Wednesday night by everybody reaching into a box and selecting a wristband (like the ones for cancer awarness ect.). They were all different colors with the different family group names on them. My family group has about 15 of us in it (it's like faculty families at USA only with all students. We did end up getting a family group coach or something like that I think they called them who are faculty memebers and we went to their house for supper last Friday night. But before that on Thursday we went to the Beach in the afternoon and did some beach Olympics against the different family groups. They were also having a photo contest that week and I won the most artistic category.
This week hasn't been too bad... I've just been trying to get used to the bigger and different classes and having to walk to a different building for EVERY class.
Last night I went to a bible study with a girl named Ji Sun from Korea, she's in my photo class. Well, it ended up that I was only one of 3 people there that were NOT asian... Which was ok but I felt a little out of place. Everyone was really nice though and it was a pretty good night. The study was at one of the schools houses I think... So a guy named Andrew picked up 5 or 6 of us girls. Turns out he's one of Byron's friends so that was kinda cool.
As for tonight... They are having a "drive-in movie" I think they are showing ET... however... I don't have a car and don't know anybody that's going to be here in order to go I don't think. So I think there is going to be a different movie in the dorm that I'll probably go watch.
Monday there are no classes and I'm looking forward to sleeping in and then I'll probably end up cleaning my room and finishing up my homework so all that's done... Actually that's probably going to be my schedual for tomorrow too and the leftovers will be for Monday.
Well, That's about all that's popping into my head right now. I hope you all have a great rest of your weekend and I miss you all!
