New Duties

When a teacher leaves mid-semester, it makes a hole that needs to be filled. I've gained a couple more things and lost one. I will now be putting in more hours in the cafeteria and teaching the photography class. I will no longer be doing Tuesday night supervision.

Mrs. Stanton will be coming to fill in a couple afternoons/evenings a week. But, she has a "real" job as well and her schedule changes every week (she knows what it is a month in advance). Therefore, my schedule will be changing every week too. That's why they're not letting me do supervision during the week anymore.

My first photo class was today. I hadn't planned anything because I had no idea what they had already gone over and what they were doing. The only thing he left me was a list of possible questions for the second test that "should be administered sometime during the 2nd term". I didn't even know who all was supposed to be in the class! There are 10 students in the class and only one of them has a camera. They haven't done any shooting outside of class and they said that pretty much everything they've gone over already they don't understand. I asked them what they wanted to do and what they wanted to learn in this class and the two answers I got were: What makes a good picture? and how to work a camera. I think I have a lot of work ahead of me. For next week I think I'll try to do a pretty basic overview of EVERYTHING and then I've got to figure out some what to get them shooting. Anybody have some extra cameras? I'll take anything at this point.

As of right now I'm picking up an extra weekend a month in the cafe. Rozita and I are rotating weekends. I thought I was going to have to do this weekend because Rozita is gone to Oklahoma (this weekend was supposed to be Paul's) but Mrs. Stanton is going to do Friday and Sabbath so I only have to do Sunday since I'm also on supervision this weekend. Then I'm on in the cafe next weekend and the next weekend is Parent Weekend so I'm sorta on duty everywhere that weekend. I'm just glad that I had last weekend off and got to go home.

Laurie, Paul, Nina, Adam, and I all went to my house (the VT one) last weekend. My church was having their cider and donut social and we all thought it'd be fun to get away for a bit and go to that. We were going to leave around 3:30 on Friday when they were out of their classes but Paul couldn't get out until 4:30. And then Laurie didn't want to leave until 5 because she wanted to meet with some students. I think we left sometime between 5:30 and 6:00! We made pretty good time and got there in less then 6 hours (go Adam!) and we beat Dad home. We took all our stuff in the house, tried to keep Belle off everyone (didn't work so well), and chatted until Dad got home. After he got home we talked a little longer before making the guys' beds and going to sleep. Sabbath we all slept in a bit and had breakfast and went to church. Mom made some really yummy lazagna for lunch and everybody ate their fill. We chatted a bit more until we decided that we should probably go to the gorge if we were going to go. We all loaded into Dad's truck and headed to Quechee. We went to the gorge first and my lens cap is now IN the gorge. I didn't realize it had fallen off until Dad asked what fell. Adam watched it fall until it splashed in to the water at the bottom. :( They had a good time teasing me about it. After that we went to Simon Pierce and watched them blow glass for a while before heading back home to change and head to the social. We had vespers, watched them do cider a little, ate donuts, drank the cider, and played games. It was fun. Sunday we slept in, Mom made breakfast, and we all just kinda hung out, took Belle on a walk, and had lunch before leaving sometime in the afternoon. It sounded like everybody had a pretty good time.
