Meeting

Rozita, Pam, and I had a meeting with Mr. Baker on Wednesday. It was a meeting I didn't even know about until Tuesday night when Andrew told me that I had a meeting with him. I didn't completely believe him because it was a story I had heard before. My reaction was sort of that of "I'll believe it when I see it".

After lunch on Wednesday I went back up to the ad building to address an envelope and see if I could figure out who could drive for ski club. I was in my office addressing the envelope when Rozita came in and asked me if I was going down to the cafe. I said "yes" and she then told me that she had "this person working here and that one there and..." I said "ok" and she told me that she was going back down there. I figured it would all be ok because I was going to be there within a couple minutes.

When I got to the cafe there were the kids just like she had said but no supervisor to be found. I asked Martin where she was and he said he didn't know. So I looked outside and didn't see her car. I had no idea what was going on with the racks on the table and the grime that was around them, I didn't know what I was supposed to do for supper, and there was no mention of a meeting. I looked at the menu calendar and saw "soup and sandwiches" for Wednesday. This would normally be ok but I had told her the day before that there were only 2 cans of soup. She told me I could make some but we didn't have any chicken seasoning and some other stuff too. We also didn't have enough bread.

I was worked up because the kids had been left unsupervised again and this just added to it. I called Mom in a panic but her phone was off. So I called Dad and he tried to calm me down and give me some suggestions (his aren't as good as Mom's ;)). In the midst of this Rozita shows back up and asks me what I'm making! I get off the phone and inform her that I don't know and continued to walked away. She then told me that Mr. Baker was coming down at 2 (only about FIVE minutes away!!!) to have a meeting with us and Pam!

Around this time, the ski club kids start coming down and asking where their food for sacks are! I quickly start slicing meat and try to get out tomatoes, mayo, lettuce, ect. In the middle of all this Mr. Baker comes down and says he needs us in the dinning room! I just kept getting the kids going and trying to tell my workers that were coming in what they needed to do. He started getting upset because we weren't going into the dinning room. He then began to yell at the ski club kids that they weren't supposed to be down there and they all need to leave and they shouldn't be making sandwiches and everything. Sam told him that they come down every week and do this and "Miss. Miller doesn't mind!" Baker told him that they needed to go and blah blah blah. Rozita then pipes in that its ski club getting supper sacks and Mr. Baker quickly changed his tune.

We finally all made it to the dinning room and began the meeting. First we discussed the weekend schedule. I worked last weekend in the cafe and then supervision this weekend, then 2 weekends of break, then I'm on 2 weeksends of cafe and a weekend of supervision, the next weekend is Alumni Weekend AND Reception!!! And then will be another weekend of a much needed homeleave. I think I've got 3 weekends I'm on duty by myself and 3 more weekends I'm supposed to be helping as much as I can. Mr. Baker tried to get me to work cafe and supervision the same weekend! Pam asked him if he wanted to have supervision and that there's not much down time between meals and then next thing the students have to be at. He decided that was a bad idea and switched me... that's how I got two weekends in a row.

Then we talked about week day supervision. Rozita does every morning. He asked who is doing Monday afternoons and Rozita promptly chimed in "Vicki does Mondays and Wednesdays. That's what she agreed to!" Well excuse me! I only agreed to that because at the beginning of the year someone else was supposed to be doing the other two nights. So now I'm stuck. Two evenings every week and more weekends on alone then everyone else. Yay go me.

I had to run to the back to help with something quick and when I got back out there Baker was telling them that if we had errands to run we were to do them during the 1/2 hour break between shifts but if an emergancy came up we were to call him but if he couldn't go down then we'd have to send everyone back to the dorms and lock things up. Rozita said that she's had to do something like that before. I wanted to burst out that she did it that afternoon!

He asked twice if there were any other issues that needed to be discussed. I sat there thinking of course there is but I'm not going to bring them up infront of Pam. She's not involved with it so why bring her into it?

Anyways, I was a bit upset with results of the meeting (although not really surprised) and I vented to Andrew when dropping him off to get the truck that night. He told me that he had asked Mr. Baker if he'd dealt with the cafe issues yet and that he understood he'd recieved an email about some issues? Baker said that he uh.... ahh... umm... was planning on having a meeting with us on Wednesday. But clearly it wasn't planned. I was a bit angry Andrew had to be the one to inform me of it!

Anyways, we're supposed to have another meeting tomorrow about menus.... we'll see how it goes.
