Sweet 50D

A couple weeks or so before Christmas Mom had me look at a Canon 50D on the B & H website. It was a used camera but in great condition, showing little to no wear. "Great!" I thought and told Mom it looked good. She told me that was good because she was in the middle of buying it.

Christmas morning brought the two of us together for the first time. As I opened the box and peered down at my sweet 50D for the first time a smile crept its way onto my face and it was love at first sight with only one small little detail missing... a lens. Knowing I had a 35mm Canon Rebel in NY with a lens on it the thought crossed my mind that maybe that lens would be the same kind my new digital camera takes. But not knowing what lens was on the Rebel, I began searching.

I'd know this camera was mine weeks before we met and I had been looking for a lens to join the friendship the two of us were soon to begin, but I hadn't found anything. I kept checking the used store on the B&H website hoping something I could afford would come in and I could snag it before anyone else. And finally, that time came. I saw a Canon 28-80mm for a good price, consulted a few fellow photographers and quickly called to make it mine. This little guy is to join us on Monday.

Upon arriving back to the NY home and unpacking a bit I didn't get around to or remembered to check the film camera's lens until this morning. I opened the case up and took out the camera with the lens attached. To my shock and awe, the lens that was on the Rebel was in fact the same kind my 50D takes! WHY HADN'T I THOUGHT OF THIS SOONER!?!?!?! Upon closer inspection of the lens, I realized that it was a 28-90mm!!! "WHAT?! The right lens and ALMOST the same exact thing I JUST bought?!" I thought! "I can't believe it!"

So, I'm thinking the 28-80mm that I just got from B&H will be returning to B&H (unless something happens or I realize something else and decide to keep it). I like the thought of already having a lens and being able to return this other lens and keep my money and gift card until I find a different lens that I want.

YAY! Thank you Canon for being so user friendly to me :) and Thank you to all my family that chipped in to get me the camera (and lens)!!!
