Calling it Quits

I'm not really calling it quits but I do feel like it today! I've had a kinda rotten day today. It started with the rain (who am I kidding... I'm in MI where the weather is Bi-Polar... of course it couldn't have started with RAIN!) there being NO parking on the Harrigan side of campus. I forgot that the parking lot I usually park in was closed because of the Acrofest people coming. And so began the search for a parking spot. Driving up the hill I see all the parallel spots are filled, going to the next parking lot... full. I turned around and went back down the hill parking lots behind the honors house... full. Parking on the street... reserved for faculty. I glance at the clock and see I have about five minutes until class starts. I see the parking lot behind the bookstore as also full along with the Nethery parking lot. Great... turning around again I notice TWO spots open by the Custodial building. Perfect! I should get to class right one time (which happens to be VERY important on critique days. I grab my print and start out towards Harrigan keeping my print upside down since it's still drizzly out. I walk into class 2 minutes late... luckily they hadn't really started and I was able to put my piece up.

The instructor rambles on for a bit giving us another extra assignment due next week before finally beginning the critique. Looking back I sorta wish he'd rambles the entire period. I had the WORST critique ever! He pretty much said that the crop was bad, the hot air balloons were a bad choice and their perspective was off, and to top it all off he asked in front of the entire class how I've done in my design classes and if I thought design was a strength or weakness. I saw where he was going with this and answered weakness to which he responded "this piece shows it" and told me I might want to revisit design stuff!

Next came work which really wasn't all that bad except that I was in a bad mood from class and really didn't feel like doing anything. After that and some lunch I ran off to my first fitness class of the day. What a workout! It was a good routine but boy did I feel it later!

After the fitness class I ran home and changed back into normal clothes so I could go to critique number two of the day. I had been dreading that moment since the first critique because our regular professor was on a trip we got to have the instructor from the previous critique do that one too! He rambled yet again for a good ten minutes and asked us to define the word "critique". I was so irritated! We all know what a critique is... most of us sit in TWO a week! Anyway, that critique was a little better... although he still thought it could've been cropped differently. He also said the quality of light was "decent" and then asked the rest of the class how those two compared to the rest of my images from the semester... I was one of two he did that to.

Skipping ahead a few hours... I got to top my day off with another workout and then running across the lawn in super cold rain and leaky shoes to my car.

What a lovely day
