I'm not real sure what to blog about I just sorta felt like doing it so here goes nothing...
I have been quite busy with SPLASH stuff this week. I was feeling relieved from school work (all the stuff due and tests last week) and told Bryan that I was ready to do some stuff over the weekend (exspecially since it was a long weekend). He gave me a good sized "to do list" on Monday evening I think it was. So I've been putsing at that all week. Things are getting done but I still have a couple more things to do. One of the major things that has gotten done is I've finally found a photographer to do our photoshoot! I met him the beginning of the school year... he plays oboe in Wind Symphony, is one of Byron's friends (that's how I met him), and shoots for The Student Movement (school newspaper). I got talking to him a couple weeks ago (for pretty much the first time) on our way to the guys dorm (it was open house) we got talking pictures/photography and he had me look at some stuff he had just shot at the banquet. After the orchastra performance last weekend he came over and we started talking photos again and some other stuff... This week we have been sending messages back and forth and I finally told him my dilema yesterday. I told him what SPLASH is and a little about what we do. I told him we are working on our new website and need to get a photoshoot done. So he was like sure when do you want to meet. We are having our photoshoot on Sunday! THIS SUNDAY!!! How amazing is that!?!?!? I've been trying to think of someone and contacting people for well over a month and have finally gotten things setup... all that's left is where to meet... We are hoping to get into one of the studios.
Lets see what else... The weather has been SO nice here this week. The sun has actually been out and blue skies and I saw my first sunset in MONTHS Wednesday evening coming back from Wind Symphony practice. I was even going with out a jacket for part of the day a couple days ago. I went out shooting for my Holga assignment this afternoon and wasn't freezing by the time I went back inside. It was glorious.
Wednesday start Music Festival. I heard this year there are 113 participants... plus sponsors and whoever else. The guest director is Dr. Robert Spradling from Western Michigan University. He's really good. He directed one of our songs tonight for our vespers program. The concert went fairly well I think. I'm anxious to go here the academy students tomorrow evening!
A few of my friends are gone for most, if not all, of the weekend. Cara left for Florida on Wednesday and Bryan and Monica are on a retreat until tomorrow night for their Missions Class. So I'll probably go to the concert tomorrow evening then come back here, watch a movie, and hopefully go to bed early so I can get up Sunday and go to the darkrooms.
In other news, a lot of my family has been in the hospital today. Grandpa went in yesterday because of chest pains and they kept him over night, have been running tests, are keeping him again tonight, and doing more things tomorrow. My cousin's little girl had to have surgery today to extend some tubes into her bladder... can't remember what they are for, and my aunt had surgery on her foot today too; she is home now but I'm sure she is very sore... she had the other foot done a while ago and was out of work for a bit.
Another bit of news that has me super excited... I get to see Andrew on Monday. YAY! I miss the relationships and the we way we communicated/feelings we had with people from acadmey. I have friends here but it's not the same. We aren't as close as I am with my friends from Springs... I told somebody that I was excited because I'd be seeing a familar face. In a sence this might be true; the people I know here I've known for a max of ALMOST 7 months... but we don't always see each other everyday, many of us don't have classes together, the dorms are huge so you might not even see each other in here, and everybody's scheduals are really crazy. In academy you saw EVERYBODY and you saw them ALL THE TIME. Sometime sure it was get annoying (depending on the people) but I kinda miss it.
Anyways, I'm so glad that today was Friday and I only had one class and I got some shooting done. I hope the pictures come out how I want them too, using a new camera and everything. I thank God for the Sabbath and the break that it provides!
I hope you all have a restful Sabbath and a wonderful weekend!
