sorry?

This weekend I helped out with a small youth conference type thing which is in preparation of a bigger one in October which is in preparation of GYC. Today's was called GLYC or Great Lakes Youth Conference. SPLASH was invited by the head guy to be one of the ministries that was highlighted over the weekend and to have our team help out so that's what we did. The weekend went well but it was quite busy.

Friday Night: I was supposed to be in the PMC Youth Chapel at 6:15 or so and I got there and didn't do anything... finally as people we were walking in Rich and I started greeting.

Sabbath Morning: I got up about a half an hour later then I should have. I was supposed to be at Sabbath School at about 9:00... I got down there around 9:30 and as I was walking there Monica was walking toward me and said they didn't need any help so I went back to my room for a couple minutes. On my way BACK to SS Bryan called me and asked if Monica was there, when I told him no that she had gone somewhere else and wouldn't be back til later he told me he was going to be VERY late if he made it to SS at all and asked me to speak about SPLASH since he wasn't going to be there on time and Monica wasn't there. I ended up grabbing Simeon and Kerwin and the 3 of us went up and talked.

Church: I just greeted before the service began nothing big...

Sabbath Afternoon: As soon as church was over we loaded the bus and headed to a different church about 15 minutes from here. They served us a great (free) lunch and then we went door to door. I'm the kind of person that always dreads going door to door if we have to talk to people but always come back with an interesting experience. The group I was in was assigned to a trailer park. There was a loop of trailers on the outside and in the middle there were a few rows of trailers. Bryan and I took the one side of the outside while Cathrine and Steve took the other. Lots of the people weren't home. Of the people we did talk to most of them were fairly nice in declining to do the survey or taking the Bible study card. Bryan and I came to this one house and the guy opened the door a little and Bryan started talking and the guy was like "Nope nope not right now... I have to go" type of a thing. So we left thinking he was pretty rude. We me Cathrine and Steve in the middle and we took the one side of all the middle trailers as the took the other. We were just finishing up one of the trailers across from the rude man's and he came out and started walking towards us. He came over and said that he wanted to say sorry for being rude to us earlier but he had his kids over and really didn't have the time right then. But his kids were now gone and if we still wanted to talk to him we were welcome to go back over. We ended up talking to him on the way to his house, telling him what we were doing and he asked us if he could ask us a question before we asked him ours. We said yes and he proceeded to ask what religion we were trying to represent. So we told him SDA and he said that that was the only religion he hasn't really studied. He said how he was born Catholic, went to Baptist schools, and listed off a whole bunch of others he had been involved in. We finished our survey before getting to his house (we stopped on the side of the road) and we offered him the Bible study card and he took it, filled it out, and gave it back to us to fill out right there!
We all went back to the Stevensville church and had a testimony time and then a networking session and supper before heading back to PMC where we went right into vespers. I was the ONLY SPLASH member that stayed... Monica had ditched before everyone was back to Stevensville and rode back with another friend and several others did come at all. I had to run PowerPoint for the program and was required to stay. Bryan told me I could leave right after it started because that's what he was planning on doing so I asked him if I was still supposed to run PowerPoint and he was like oh yeah.

Saturday Night: I came back here and went down to watch the rest of the movie in the lobby that Cara was showing since she was on duty this weekend.

Sunday: I shot a roll of film, went to the international food fair and had some AMAZING food, then went to the darkroom until 6 and then went back to the food fair for supper and returned some books to the library, then went to our SPLASH meeting. 4 out of the 10 of us showed up... it would have been 3 but Monica ended up coming even though Rich tried to tell her that they needed to study during that time.

I felt kinda ditched and frusterated this weekend and I'm ready for a break! On top of that we were told in one of our classes somethings that kinda put a damper on my spirits too. But life goes on and will get better.
