Thoughts from Music

Today started music festival here at Andrews. We have two lovely girls from Great Lakes Academy staying with us, Katy and Rachel (Brittany knows them from church). This year music fest is choir and strings.

Tonight, Brittany and I decided to go to the University Singers concert (generally for the music fest participants but open to all). It was a good concert (we found out upon arrival that we got credit for attending) in which they performed five selections they sang in Grand Rapids for the American Choral Directors Associations Central Division Convention. I enjoyed all the pieces, even with already hearing almost all of them before. I don't think I had heard Praise God For The Breath of Life by Paul Halley before and the words (which were written in the program) appealed to me.
Here they are:

Praise God for the breath of life.
Praise God for the gift of song.
Praise God for the open eye.

Praise God for the world to see.
Praise God for the beating heart.
Praise God for the heart to love.

Praise God for the breath of life.
Praise God for the gift of song.
Praise God for the open eye.
Praise God for the world to see.
Praise God for the hands to give.

Praise God for the path to walk.
Praise God for the hands to hold.
Praise God for the hands to give.

Praise God for the feet to dance;
For the feet to dance.
Praise God for the path to walk;
For the path to walk.

Just thought they were nice and got me thinking how we should thank God for all the big and small things; that we can see, that we can walk, for keeping us alive, providing a path for us to follow, and for the friends/family who give their support. I was also thinking that I should appreciate these things more then I do. Many times I don't take time to look closely at a snowflake or be truly genuine in saying "how are you" to someone I pass on the sidewalk or listen to nature's song. So, I'm going to try to appreciate my friends and family to a greater extent, be more caring and genuine when asking someone how there day is going, and to "stop and smell the roses" more frequently.
