Sunday was Monica's wedding. I flew into Louisville on Thursday and thought I was getting picked up by Joshua (Monica's husband)'s brother that I hadn't met yet. But when I stepped off the plane and headed to baggage claim around 3:30 my phone rang and it was Jodi saying that Monica's mom and her were about there to get me.
After loading my stuff into the van we tried to find some shopping places because Monica's mom needed a dress for the wedding and I needed shoes. I found shoes within 10 minutes but Mrs. Johnson had no such luck with a dress. We ended up going to two malls and a bunch of other stores before she found something well enough to get. Louisville is about an hour from the house and we didn't get to the house until almost midnight! Not quite all of that time was used for shopping though... the GPS wasn't much help when telling it we wanted to go home we went about an hour and weren't sure why it was taking us that way. Jodi looked at the arrival time which said 2 something in the morning. We finally figured out it was sending us toward Nashville and we had been going the wrong way.
Anyways, Friday we got up around 7 or 8 and got a light breakfast and Jodi and I worked on the program and music for the wedding and then all of us girls (Jodi, Sonya, Monica, Danae, Monica's sister Amanda, and I) all went to this really good Mexican place for some lunch and then did some last minute shopping before going back to the house to finish the stuff we started. Then since it was so hot EVERYONE ended up swimming in the lake. It was a lot of fun! They have a rope swing that was quite fun to go off of and amusing to watch others go off it. DJ, Paul, and Rich all arrived a little later Friday. Friday evening a bunch of us sat out on the closed in patio thing and talked for a while and I saw my first real cockroach... actually a couple of them!
Sabbath we all went to church where Mr. Johnson announced that there were 19 of us staying at their house the night before. After church we had lunch there (some really good haystacks) and then most of us headed back to the house for some much needed R&R. Several people slept and I had every intention on laying on the pull-out couch and read where it was a bit cooler. Sonya said she was going to lay down there too but didn't think she was going to sleep. When we got out there Paul was in the couch playing around with the guitar so Sonya and I chatted and then Paul came over a bit closer and got in on some of the chat. Sonya fell asleep a bit later and Danae headed outside for some sun. Around 4 everybody got up and got ready for the 2 hour ride to the church the wedding would be at.
We had some supper and then a vespers service before the rehearsal. We also had to unload all the decorations and start getting those put up before running through things. We got done with rehearsal quite late and headed back to the house. I think we got there after 1 or 2 and went to bed shortly after.
Sunday morning all of us girls had to be up and ready to go by 8:00 to get our hair done. We went to the salon and Adrienne met us there (she was the last bridesmaid to arrive). Monica came around 9 so she could get some stuff done before going and brought Paul with her to take some pictures. After leaving there we went back to the house, grabbed our dresses and everything else we needed, and made the 2 hour trip back to the church.
The wedding went well and was very pretty. It looked like pretty much everybody shed a tear or two at one point or another. Joshua's brother cried the whole service! We took all the pictures after the ceremony and then headed to the reception. We had some really yummy food and had four different toasts (one of them I got the privilege of helping with). We hung out for a while before changing and packing up. I had a bit of an embarrassing moment which I blame on Sonya and Paul! The room we changed in had double doors with small windows toward the top, when I got down there to change the doors were wide open and I didn't bother closing them. I went way over to the corner as far between the counter and cabinet I could get but it wasn't far because of some boxes on the floor. Sonya was helping me put my straps on when we heard Paul at the door. I still had my dress on but the top was flopped down. Sonya kinda pushed me backwards and on my way down I hit my arm on the door to the cabinet and landed in the box with Sonya on top of me! We had a good laugh about it and when asking Paul if he knew what happened later he said he did and had a good laugh about it as well :P
Anyways, we got all our stuff together, saw Monica and Joshua off, said goodbye to Paul and Rich, and headed back to the house. I headed right to bed after looking at some of Jodi's pictures and packing up most of my stuff.
I arrived back in NY Monday afternoon around 3 and wasn't feeling well and was REALLY tired from only sleeping about 4 hours every night I was gone. I helped with chores but didn't feel like doing anything else and called it a night earlier then the past few nights had been.
And as for the rest of the week... I'm working in the office at the academy helping to get things put back together. Some of its a bit frustrating but at least its helping some... I think.
Camp pitch starts on Monday for Campmeeting and I'll be staying home by myself next week taking care of the farm while Andrew and Kim are gone. I'm ready for campmeeting and seeing my family and hopefully getting my car! :D
