This weekend I got to get away for a few days. Originally, the plan was for me to go to Adrianna's at least for Saturday night but that fell through so I went home with Andrew Friday afternoon and spent the weekend with him and Kim. I did chores Friday evening so they could go pick up the car from the shop. When they got back they taught me how to play The Farming Game. I lost but it was pretty fun. The rest of the weekend was filled with a trip to the fair, helping Kim clip goat hooves, picking some stuff out of the garden, a game of Killer Bunnies (I got skunked for the third time in a row), and various other activities including having another allergic reaction... we think its ragweed that I'm allergic to.
Sunday evening I packed up and headed to WalMart on my way back to my house. I picked up some groceries and a few other things. When I got to the house I unloaded everything and then tried to pick up my room a bit because Adri was coming. Adri and Lukis (her adorable little orange tiger kitten) arrived a while later and we made a late supper and watched a movie before shutting out the lights.
We attempted to sleep in on Monday morning but got a phone call a little before 8 and we were up the rest of the day. We showered, got some breakfast, Alexandria came over between classes, then Adri gave me a haircut (and did a fine job I might add), and while she was finishing that up our little sisters came over and started making lunch. We had some yummy taco salad and some ...odd... brownies before they rushed off to class. Adri and I did dishes before she packed up to head home. Then it was back to work for me.
Things seem to be going better for me in the cafe but every evening has its own unique challenges. I'm learning how to handle them and hoping I'm not making enemies while doing so. Tonight I'm off from the cafe but on supervision for rec/the soccer games. This is my first supervision since I did cafe duty last week.
SA has it own share of challenges... The officers seem to be pretty on top of things for the most part but there are some communications issues that we need to work out (they do realize this) and a couple other things. They are good kids though and I think things will be adjusted soon and properly. Y-Owasco is this weekend and I'm eager to see how it all goes and how they work together Saturday evening to pull it all off. Hopefully I'll be able to steal some pictures from somebody to post.
We had our first advisories today. I have three girls in mine and they are all new students. I explained a bit about what advisories are and what we'd be doing. Then I told them if they had homework that needed to be done they could work on it during advisories so they went to get some and then came back up and worked on what they could and I helped where I was able to and we all talked for a bit. It was a shorter time today because we ran over in worship. Hopefully I'll be able to help them and mentor them this year... and remember to bring them sweets next time. I was going to bring some of the leftover brownies from yesterday and didn't even think of it this morning.
I'm off to my first supervision of the year...
