17.5 Hours Is Too Long!

I discovered something yesterday... I get incredibly irritable and emotional after being up for 17 hours!

I had to be to work at 7 yesterday morning meaning I had to be up around 5:45. But work went pretty well. I wasn't super busy but I wasn't really slow either and I made $18 in tips. After work I went to the farmer's market. I got some really tasty cucumbers (Kim and I had one in a salad tonight for supper) and a yellow zucchini, summer squash, red plums (they had black and yellow too), and some peaches. I pulled out of my parking spot when I was done shopping and saw that this old man had pulled his car up OVER the curb and was into the grass! I wasn't sure what he was doing but since it didn't look like he was moving I went around the side of him so I could pull onto the road. This is the part of the story where Mr. Old decides it would be a fine time to BACK UP!. Mind you, he's at an angle to me and the back of my car is somewhat parallel to the front of his car. He starts backing up and I looked over and saw him getting closer and closer to my car! I didn't think there was any way he COULDN'T see me but he kept getting closer! Finally I honked my horn but it was too late. Mr. Old had already bumped into me! The cars squeaked a little but I don't think there was any damage (not that I've really looked for "old man tan" on my driver's side door).

I was planning on getting Chinese for supper since Andrew and Kim went out last night. I ended up not napping like I should've and felt to lazy to get dressed again and go down the street... so I improvised and made my own fried rice with some leftovers and had eggrolls that were in the freezer.

After supper I went out to feed and water all the goats... that's all I was told to do because they thought they'd be home in time to milk even if it was a bit late because chores were going to be done late today too. When I got out to the barn Lilly, Ella, and Amelia came running over to me. After wrangling them up and getting them back into their stall in marches Max... followed by Joe. I wasn't amused. I got the boys back outside and finished up feeding and watering everybody.

Around 9:30 (the time Andrew thought they MIGHT be home by) Andrew contacted me and said that they were just breaking for intermission and I might want to milk (and feed bottles since I had forgotten to do that the first time I went out). Then a bit later they said that they could wait. I decided I'd feed the babies and at least milk "my" goats. So I did that... Sera, then Cat, then Razel. By the time I got to Razel the bucket was pretty full. I figured if I ran out of room I could just dump stuff into the other bucket... unfortunately Razel had a different idea. I was almost half way done with her and she kicked the pail and milk literally went flying! I was so tired by this point I just started crying. I threw down some wood shavings and finished milking her. I had enough to come in and pasteurize so I did that then went back out to milk the other goats. Andrew and Kim got home in time for Andrew to milk the last goat.

I came in and cleaned up the bottles and pails and got ready for bed still feeling a bit frustrated. Andrew told me Sam had already been out and good night as I headed downstairs. As I tried getting into my room so did Shadow, and to my dismay we both succeeded. This had me crying again! Then I had to come back upstairs a couple times and by the time I got back down to my room and turned out my big light I'd forgotten Shadow was still in there. As soon as I laid down he jumped on to my bed/me. I promptly got up and threw him out. I laid in my bed trying to calm down a little before finally dozing off to a much needed sleep!

I woke around 6:30 this morning for some unknown reason but was quickly snoozing away again. My alarm went off around 8, I shut it off and I think I tried listening for any movement upstairs telling me to get up to help with chores and when I didn't hear anything I was asleep again. I woke up around 9 and heard movement upstairs so I put barn clothes on and when I came up things seemed odd. The bottles were where they were last night when I took care of them but they were wet and the buckets were wet too. Kim appeared and I asked if chores were done already and she said yes (she had done them by herself since Andrew had a super early meeting!) I told her I was sorry I didn't get up to help but I hadn't heard anything until a few minutes before. I was thankful to have the extra couple hours of sleep before work today!
