NSC - Part 1

I'm in the middle of the 3rd week of camp and haven't posted ANYTHING to my blog (sorry Andrew). So, while I wait for my 3 roommates to come in I guess I'll share a few happenings from the past couple weeks.

Camp has been crazy busy but super fun! The first week was full of cleaning up the camp, reading through policies, 1st aid stuff & cpr training, and getting to know each other. I couldn't believe how close I felt to the rest of the staff by the end of the week. I remember thinking that I already loved these people but didn't know how it could be possible because I'd only known them for just under a week!

The first Sabbath here we woke up at O-dark-thirty to load the bus for the couple hour drive to Maplewood Academy/Campmeeting. We did a little thing in the adult sabbath school and some of use shared camp testimonies. We also asked for money to continue the building project (the boys have all new cabins this year and they're planning on doing the girls next but only have part of the money). We raised ALMOST $10,000 there! We then split into groups and went to all the different youth/children's Sabbath schools and did songs and a little "come to camp" blip. I saw ONE person I knew and it made me a little homesick for my campmeeting since everyone else knew almost everybody!

The next week we had Cub Camp. It was SUCH a high energy camp! I spent a lot of my time however, making, printing, cutting, laminating, and cutting out again trading cards of the staff. It was a lot of time/work even with help. It was so bad that the pastor that was here for the week took pity on me/us and bought a paper-cutter. The nurse's wife spent a lot of time cutting some out for us. The kids were great though and I made some friends with some of the little girls. I got to spend ALL of Friday morning on the boats and oh my word it was SOOOO much fun! I totally hope I can do it again this week. Friday was pretty much the only day we didn't have rain all week!

This week has been a little bit crazy but not bad. It's Camp Confidence this week so things are all moving slower. I spent the first period on Monday up at the horse barn for pictures then took a few in crafts and drew with chalk on the sidewalks with Anna and the pastor's adorable little girls. Today I went up to Archery first thing and I got to shoot a few... I hit the target 50% of the time and I almost got the center bulls-eye at the end!

Tuesdays are my day off. They have been A-MAZING!!! The first Tuesday I went out with Anna and Lizzy we got some coffee and we did some shopping at this super cool store with all sorts of outdoors-y stuff and clothes and furniture... lots of stuff. Then we did some shopping at Target and had lunch at a diner before heading back but stopping to take a few pictures. We found this crazy suv thing with a boat front that we sat on for some pictures.

This week I went out with Anna, Lizzy, Joanna, Roney, Nic, and Trevor. It was so relaxing and a ton of fun! We got some coffee and then walked the streets and browsed some antique stores and thrift stores while we drank them. Then we picked up a couple groceries and then stopped at Subway for some quick lunch before coming back to camp. We watched a show on the computer and then laid out on the ski dock until supper. Anna totally got pooped on by a bird = HILARIOUS!!! Then we got some supper and brought it down to the dock then laid out a little longer before going back on duty.

Next week is Family Camp which means we will probably have a little more free time... we're hoping for a girls evening out since not all of us cabin-mates are off on the same day. I'm also hoping to get some pictures posted and maybe another blog done next week... so until then, I hope this pacifies you for a while :)
