I've had a few really nice talks lately... mostly with guys I've never met in person. These guys are from all over the United States - one living in Ohio, another one in Alaska, a third in Indiana, one in Washington, and I've even exchanged a few messages with someone in Texas.
Some of these conversations I enjoy quite a bit more than the others. Last night I chatted for around four hours with this guy from Indiana. I've never had a conversation like that with anyone I don't think... except maybe one of my girl friends sometime. I know that we talked online and anybody can say anything over a computer. But, I have to say it was refreshing and encouraging.
I've listened to some podcasts on boundlessline.org that discuss the importance of talking/dating intentionally. I felt like this guy was doing that. He asked some questions I've never been asked by a guy before... good questions, questions that made me think, questions I needed to answer honestly even if my answers didn't a-line with his.
I've never talked about things like having kids, how our faiths would play into marriage/having a family, what in fact I do believe, what I'm looking for in a spouse both spiritually and in looks. I have to say, it was refreshing to hear someone say that he wants to be the spiritual leader of his family some day, someone whose ideas on attractiveness are similar to mine.
All this gives me hope that someday I will indeed find the man God has for me. It may be one of these guys I've been talking to online, it may not be. Whoever it is, I can say that God knows who I need.
