As you can see from my previous post, I've had quite the run around with CCC over the past week. Going from "you don't need to take any more electives and only need one more behavioral science" to "you need SOME more electives and TWO behavioral sciences" was not something that was impressing me.
I met with Tom (Friday and Monday) and he pretty much told me I didn't have any options about taking ART 160... I'd have to wait til the Spring and there was no independent study option for it either. He also told me to talk to Mike the registrar and check on some of my transferred in credits as well as Eric who is in charge of transfer credits and stuff in Student Development.
I met with Mike and he told me that my electives and my behavioral science from Andrews all transferred in and I should be good. I then went down the hall to talk with Eric and was told he was in meetings all day! I made an appointment to go back on Tuesday. Unfortunately I forgot about work times and scheduled the meeting for 2 hours after work started. I called and changed it for earlier in the day.
I met with Eric and decided in about 5 minutes that he was quickly becoming my new best friend. He looked at my degree evaluation thing and found out that my electives weren't showing up like they should (he said he'd get that straightened out). He said if it didn't show up on there when they looked at it they'd think that I was a certain amount of credits short of graduating. And he also saw the ART 160 problem. He said that it was ridiculous that they wanted to keep me around for an extra semester just for one class.
He was quickly on the phone with Steve, the department chair, discussing my situation with him. When he got off the phone he said we needed to go twist Tom's arm a little. So we went for a little walk down the hall and miracle of miracles Tom was in :) We spent a little time talking with him and explaining the situation and some options. Tom asked me why I didn't take it this Spring and I promptly told him I didn't know and HE was the one that registered me for classes. Eric then said that his 3rd reason to do as he proposed he didn't think needed to be explained much more then what I had just said... but sometimes they like to call it an "advisor clerical error".
After Eric filling out ONE sheet of paperwork and getting ONE signature, everyone agreed on a solution and... I'LL BE GRADUATING IN DECEMBER FROM CCC!!!
YAY!!! Thank you Eric!
